It’s been nearly 4 years since popular Nigerian Artist Skales dropped his epic album, “My Love” in 2018. After much anticipation, Skales is back with his latest album entitled “Sweet Distractions”. If the title don’t give you a hint; it should! Sweet Distractions is the remedy to those who seek validation from within, and a significant other simply complicates things (love). With three albums already solidified as classics, Sweet Distractions is sure to be his the best yet.
As a lover of great music, I find Sweet Distractions the perfect compliment to the Afrobeat style that has become unique. The lead track on the album, “Hope, Freedom and Love” exemplifies Skales total array of skills. His harmonious voice is enticing, and his flow checks all the boxes which qualifies Skales as a great rapper. The track covers an array of issues encountered personally by Skales. What a testimonial! The entire Sweet Distractions album is a statement of struggle and triumph which Skales portrays in depth with hits such as N2S (Nobody to Somebody), Pants on Fire featuring Blaqbonez, As Always feat. Kabusa Oriental Choir, I Dey Miss You feat. Imanse, Katapot feat. Zoro and Rosa feat Rotimi. The production of producer Krizbeatz is on point.
