Tis the season! For St. Catharines, Canadian born guitarist, singer and songwriter Dallas Green, 2023 couldn’t be off to a better start. This week, Dallas Green, professionally known as City and Colour shocked music fans everywhere with the release of a new single, ‘Underground,’ an upcoming tour and the drop date on his seventh upcoming studio album, “The Love Still Held Me Near.”
‘Underground’, comes as the second single from the anticipated album, with ‘Meant To Be’ released in November of 2022 as its predecessor. ‘Meant To Be’, a tribute to City and Colour longtime producer and good friend Karl Bareham, passed and left a void not only to Dallas Green, but the universe as well. The new single ‘Underground’, is a song about learning to live and love while we have the chance, life is short! Once again, City and Colour knocks it out of the park with superb songwriting that simply resonates. Regret is a B@#th, and forgiveness is the antidote, ‘Underground’ is a toast to the opportunity to get’er done, before we’re 6’ deep! A amazing tune, on-time riffs and a great story line makes for another #1 record.
I do believe, “The Love Still Held Me Near”, will take an elevated posture from the already established 2019 album, “A Pill for Loneliness,” which by industry standard, is a classic in its own right! Birthed out of pain and loss, “The Love Still Held Me Near”, will deliver on the promise of its title; to hold you tight, and make everything all Right! Dealing with unimaginable loss is one we all can relate with, if it hasn’t happened, just keep on living. Some deal with pain in isolation, but for City of Colour, it ignited a pen of inspiration that bleeds onto the canvas of song.
