The Nike brand is the undisputed leader of supporting the world’s leading athletes in just about every sport imaginable. This week, the Nike brand continued on it’s commitment to excellence by announcing a major addition to its signature athletes. WNBA star, Sabrina Ionescu is the latest superstar to join and will be presented with her own signature line (Sabrina 1) to be launched summer 2023.
Nike’s long standing commitment to the WNBA and women in sports include mega-stars such as Naomi Osaka, Elena Delle-Donne, Megan Rapinoe and Serena Williams. The New York Liberty point guard, Sabrina Ionescu was the 1st pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft out of the University of Oregon. Sabrina posted an average of 17 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 6.3 assists in 2022.
Sabrina Ionescu is Nike’s first woman athlete that will have a full unisex collection. The Sabrina 1 signature shoe will feature a design for athletes that rely on agility, acceleration, and quickness. The mid-foot shank and fore-front Zoom will grip the foot comfortably with a personalized feel to the foot.
In addition to the bold sleek look, the Nike Sabrina 1 Signature Shoe features a Romanian splash within the patterns and Swoosh logo. On the midsole, is a signature statement, “Anyone, Anywhere”, which is a nod to Sabrina’s play and competitive edge she wears every time on the court.
The unisex Nike Sabrina 1 will debut at retail for $125 and is set to release in “Magnetic,” “Ionic,” and “Spark” colorways. As with the design of the Sabrina 1’s, Sabrina was very hands=on in the creative process of the apparel line. From the colors, fabrics and cuts, Sabrina was influential for every step of the process. The Nike Sabrina line will debut a Unicorn sock, made with 80% recycled material. In addition, the apparel collection will also include Dri-Fit shirts, and cross-body satchel bags.
2023 has been an amazing year for Sabrina Ionescu! In addition to her own signature line, Sabrina recently got engaged and it’s rumored that her and soon to be hubby will strut down the aisle in the Nike Sabrina 1’s. Congrats~
