Elton John dazzled fans one last time with the conclusion of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour in Stockholm, Sweden on Sunday. After more than 5 decades of rocking stages and touching the hearts of millions, Sir Elton John has officially come to an end. Well, just one chapter!
Elton John’s impact on the music industry goes without saying; throughout his career, he has amassed two Academy Awards, one Tony Award, and six Grammy Awards; being nominated a record 34-times. The conclusion of the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Show has circulated around the globe, running an astounding 330 dates. The last and final show at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm held a special significance in the fact that 52 years ago on July 7. 1971 in Sweden.
At 76 years of age, Elton John showed no sign of weariness, as he performed the almost three hour set, performing 23 of his biggest hits. The crowd cried, cheered and sang along to some of Elton John’s iconic hits. Elton John used every opportunity between sets to thank the fans, bands who have inspired him, and his team who’s been with him for more than 40 years. In addition, Elton John was praised for his pioneering work within the LGBT community, Aids foundation, and his involvement in many charity events which spans 40 years. It was Elton John’s philanthropic efforts that separated him from many of his contemporaries which will always solidify his legacy as a lantern for humanity.
