The founders Tamish Aswani and Giorgi Krisno began Ageless Galaxy as a creative agency, and in a span of seven years growing the brand, they opened their first flagship store, ‘AGLXY’ in October 2020. Located in South Jakarta, Indonesia, the Ageless Galaxy store is not only the official retailer of Indonesia, but its appeal has reached global status. With a product catalog which includes custom footwear, t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets, shorts, cardigans, vests, and more, it is Ageless Galaxy’s curiosity that pushes the brand beyond new heights.
In recent years, Ageless Galaxy has continued to innovate and push the fashion culture forward. Creative Head, Tamish Aswani established the culture at Ageless Galaxy by setting the goal to leave a mark in the galaxy, by fueling a never-ending drive to do “Whatever it Takes” to survive. The rest is history! From the flagship store in Jakarta, AGLXY garments are sewn, cut, printed and showcased in an unbelievable environment accompanied by a unique tailor-made shopping experience. We caught up with Ageless Galaxy’s co-founder Tamish Aswani, and asked him to go in-depth about the brand, and the mystique behind the outer space inspired refined basics. Exclusive Interview w/ Ageless Galaxy’s Tamish Aswani
PMB: Please tell us how Ageless Galaxy began in the apparel manufacturing space?
Tamish Aswani: Ageless Galaxy started in 2013 as a creative agency. We didn’t want to rely on external sources of finance (i.e. investors) to run the brand, so we offered our creative services in order to fund the production of our first apparel collection. Fast forward 10 years later and we still operate the creative agency alongside the apparel brand. To add to that, we opened our first brick-and-mortar store in 2020 where we also curate other apparel & footwear brands.
PMB: Where you are located and the process which leads to retail locations? Who is your market target?
Tamish Aswani: Currently, we’re located in Jakarta, our creative office is above our store. Before we had a store, all brand operations were done online and we also stocked at a few local retailers. Now we have our store where people can browse & shop and our website where we ship all over the world. We still stock a few local retailers with the addition of a few others across the world in the UK, Singapore, and Japan.
Ageless Galaxy’s brand revolves around the lifestyle of food, music, art, and design, with that we wanted to move to a space that could accommodate these things, like hosting launch parties, Barbeque Events, basically a place where people can connect and come together.
We want to attract like-minded people, who are within the creative culture and also people who have the same interest as us, and that is our target market. We also use the same principle to work with retailers, where they want to build connections instead of stocking just for exposure.
PMB: The Ageless Galaxy Mission, Moto, and Purpose?
Tamish Aswani: Our mission is to be a global brand that motivates and inspires others to be the best versions of themselves.
At Ageless Galaxy we have a motto to do Whatever It Takes to leave a mark in this world and to Live to Strive, Strive to Live every day.
PMB: What’s Ageless Galaxy specialty? Total stock? What is the most popular product?
Tamish Aswani: We started out with graphic tees that specialize in T-shirts with our graphics, taglines, and color spectrum on them, but as our brand grows, we want to expand the types of silhouettes we offer with pieces such as outerwear, bottomwear, headwear, and more.
PMB: In the past few years, what trends have inspired Ageless Galaxy to explore in that direction?
Tamish Aswani: We try our best to keep up and follow the trends but we would always incorporate our touch with unique graphics in every collection and prioritize making things we would want to wear. We also listen to feedback and suggestions from our team and close friends.
PMB: What collaborations has Ageless Galaxy solidified? What is the process of building a partnership?
Tamish Aswani: As a brand, collaborations are an important thing for us because it helps to broaden our global perspectives, and we have been blessed to collaborate with brands and people that have inspired us. For us a partnership is a two-way street, where we find a commonality in the brands and people that we’re going to work with, and how we can connect with each other.
Ageless Galaxy has connected with a few brands, just to name a few, Jeff Staple, The Hundreds, Carrots by Anwar Carrots, BMW, tokidoki, and loads more.
PMB: We know Ageless Galaxy is a global company, what differences do you see in different regions? What region is the most responsive?
Tamish Aswani: At the moment Indonesia is one of the largest growing markets in the world, and since we’re still based in Indonesia and a majority of our audience is from here, it’s important to have a strong connection. We love to build a sense of community and they are the most responsive. One of the most responsive, apart from Indonesia, is the United Kingdom.
PMB: In markets, such as the U.S., how is Ageless Galaxy marketing to attract new fans and potential customers?
Tamish Aswani: One of the ways for us to attract potential customers and fans is to collaborate with Brands from around the world and even the US. Other than that, we probably use current social media like Instagram to attract people outside of Indonesia.
PMB: As far as custom pieces, how are Ageless Galaxy able to meet the demand of the ever-changing culture?
Tamish Aswani: We always curate all our drops by creating collections with a limited number of pieces. We call these POD Collections, inspired by Space Pods which are essentially smaller versions of spaceships. Because we cut & sew all our apparel locally, we do have a production factory which makes it a lot easier to control the number of pieces we can produce. Despite a growing demand, we’ve always maintained the limited piece run with no restock as it makes each and every piece more unique.
PMB: Internally, is there anyone you would like to give recognition in this piece?
Tamish Aswani: I would like to give recognition to my partner Giorgi, He runs the other half of Ageless Galaxy. Could have never done it without him and his support.
PMB: What is next for the Brand? Conventions, Showcases, etc.?
Tamish Aswani: We’re focusing on bringing our brand to the global market and even global domination (jokes) but one step at a time though. We want to reach out to more people around the world and connect with inspiring and like-minded people.
PMB: Where do you see Ageless Galaxy in the next 5 years?
Tamish Aswani: As we mentioned, we want to bring our brand to a broader view, so we hope to open more stores around the world and even do collaborations with other dope brands.
