PMB Exclusive Interview w/ Charles “the Chuckster” Henderson Sr.

PMB: Tell us how Real Life For Real began in the Podcast space? What was the Motivation?

Chuckster: Real Life For Real started with a dream and vision. I am a huge fan of podcasts in general. And I always wondered if I could do something like that. After just wondering and putting it off, I listened to a new podcast one day. And on the commercials for it they kept saying hey you yeah you now is the time to start your own podcast. That line was constantly being beaten into my head every commercial. Until that light bulb went off and I told myself “ I’m gonna start me a podcast. The name came from just living out here in real time having real interactions with real people.

PMB: Tell us about the Real Life for Real Podcast process, the frequency of your broadcast? Who is your market target?

Chuckster: We are based in Montgomery AL. The process is me or someone on my team reaching out to a potential guest and booking them for a date to come on the pod. Then either a few days or majority of the time I like to wake up early and get on my family’s prayer line. Then turn all focus to writing the script for whoever is coming featured that day. We try to keep it to only recording on Sundays and the episode will drop at 12am Wednesdays. But sometimes we have to do one on a Friday and Sunday. To be honest I don’t know who the market target is, I just know we have a really good show and if you like awesome if not then hey some stuff ain’t for everyone.

PMB: What is the Real Life For Real Mission, Moto, and Purpose?

Chuckster: Our mission is to shed more light on people who normally don’t get much exposure. People like entrepreneurs, teachers, first responders etc. why not as we say on the pod up love these small businesses like they’re a Fortune 500 company. If you have something positive going on we will find you and we will push whatever it is you have going on. The Moto is simple always keep it real in real life.

PMB: In the past few years, what trends or topics have inspired Real Life For Real Podcast? Who are some of the featured guests you’ve had on to date?

Chuckster: It’s hard for me to say what trends inspired the podcast. We don’t follow trends everybody over here at camp podlife like to blaze our own paths. We are not trying to be like anyone else. Being real, authentic, and unapologetic you is what the Real Life For Real crew is about. We’ve had the likes of Kentavious(first 48 Tay) Shufford owner of First 48 clothing, Daniel Thomas (pimp) one half of the legendary hip hop group Dirty boyz, chef Rodney (Roc) White owner of chef2impress culinary apparel line, Donell Taylor retired NBA/overseas player, Mrs. Demetrice Singleton & Mrs. Nisha both educators of young minds, and Lady K from American Idol. There’s too many to name all here. All of our guests have been a joy to have on.

PMB: What collaborations if any as far as sponsors and frequency range has Real Life For Real solidified? What does the future look like in your building  process?

Chuckster: If you mean like what countries are listening to the pod by frequency range. Then so far the pod has touched 7 different countries. Well 8 if I’m including the U.S. of course. Man that shit blew my mind to know someone around the world is listening to our voices. Hopefully we’ve said something to help someone or just make their day a bit better. We are fully funded by just me at the moment and we are welcoming to all and anyone who may want to sponsor us. Just reach out to me. The future is looking really bright. We’re being received well by people. We would love to be able to put this podcast on the road one day to do what we’re doing now but on a bigger scale.

PMB: There are hundreds of podcasts out now, what do you see is the difference between Real Life For Real and other syndicated podcasts?

Chuckster: Well for starters I don’t think anyone is making their guests feel this good with the pure love we show. And the camaraderie me and my co hosts have is amazing. And the guests feel that. This podcast is not for or about us as hosts. It’s all about real people living real lives. Life is already hard and when you’re trying to do something positive with yourself, it seems no one is seeing what you’re doing or supporting you. Guess what we see you and we’re supporting you at the Real Life For Real Podcast.

PMB: Internally, is there anyone you would like to give recognition in this piece?

Chuckster: Besides god who is the ultimate reason for any of this. I’d like to thank my team from my co hosts Ke the Great & J O. To the ones who work behind the scenes Shanika Duncan, Willie Henderson, LeSherman Ringstaff, Robert (Terrell) Singleton & Javonte Brooks. Man these folks have been god sent, I can’t say thank enough.

PMB: How can people reach or tune into Real Life For Real Podcast?

Chuckster: We are on pretty much anywhere you can listen to a podcast. We’re on Facebook, Twitter, tik tok, & instagram. If you’re trying to reach us just hit us on one of those.

PMB: What is next for the Real Life For Real Podcast?

Chuckster: What’s next! Man the sky’s the limit. We are currently trying to put together this cooking/baking competition. With there being so many bakers and cooks in the city, let’s have a bit of fun and see who’s the best of the best.

PMB: Where do you see the Real Life For Real Podcast in the next 5 years?

Chuckster: So, even though we do this for the people. We still want to be the best at what we do. In 5 years from now we want the pod to be recognized as the best show in the world!
