The NFL, in partnership with Roc Nation and Apple Music made an epic announcement on Sunday. Pop mega-star Rihanna will be the Super Bowl 2023 halftime show feature artist. Wow! A surprising move, provided that Rihanna declined the offer to perform in the 2019 Super Bowl halftime show out of respect and solidarity with Colin Kaepernick who was banned due to his position on police brutality.
Super Bowl 2023 will take place at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on February 12th. The halftime show will be sponsored by Apple Music, after years of Pepsi being the feature sponsor. Rihanna is listed as the highest grossing female entertainer worth an estimated $1.7 billion. With more than 260 million records sold globally, Rihanna is one of the most sought after artist in the world.
The Barbados born singer, last public performance of any kind was at the 2018 Grammy Awards. Since, Rihanna had her first child with hip-hop artist A$AP Rocky. In addition, Rihanna makes daily decisions on her lingerie line, Savage X Fenty. Superstars in music and the sports world have been chiming in on the announcement. Legendary artist and producer Dr. Dre was one of the first to publicly congratulate Rihanna via interview with Variety.
“I just like her and what she does and her get down and how she approaches her artistry and the whole nine. It’s fantastic.” Rihanna “has the opportunity to really blow us away, I know we set the bar extremely high.”
