Coco Gauff wins first Grand Slam title with epic comeback win at U.S. Open

For 19-year old Coco Gauff, life is Good! On Saturday, September 9th, Coco Gauff became the youngest teenager since Serena Williams to win the U.S. Open tournament. With a crowd and the nation behind her, Coco Gauff defeated Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka in a back-n-forth match to win in three-sets. 

Gauff held serve repeatedly in the match, breaking Sabalenka’s relentless offensive. Finally, Gauff found herself in position to serve and win the match. After winning several WTA tournaments, winning in front of a packed New York crowd screaming “Let’s Go, Coco” accumulated in an amazing scene! 

After sealing the deal on the win, Gauff fell to her knees in appreciation of the feat. Coco Gauff spoke to the exuberant crowd, thanking her parents and tennis legend Billie Jean King

Let’s be clear, Coco Gauff’s climb to the U.S. Open champion was quite a journey. After several partner championships, Coco Gauff has been ranked in the top spot, but has never accomplished a win in the U.S. Open, until now! Congrats Coco Gauff~
