Well, there is only one outcome to be had out of a bout of epic proportions! A knock-out, in some form, shape, or fashion. The decision by Garcia’s corner resulted from an earth shattering left hand that visibly rocked Garcia in the closing seconds of the 8th round. Gervonta Davis, is by far, the best pound for pound feared fighter in the Super lightweight division with a (28-0) record.  Saturday’s match marked the first fight for Gervonta Davis since his TKO victory in May against little foe Rolly Romero

The victory over Hector Luis Garcia is definitely a prelude to the big fight everyone has been waiting for, a match-up with Ryan Garcia. After Saturday’s resounding victory, Davis stated, “I’m ready for the fight, it’s scheduled, and he’s been talking.”

It’s no doubt that Gervonta “Tank” Davis is ready for the potential bout. The only question is; will it happen? Gervonta is definitely a draw, with nearly 20k fans in attendance at the Capital One Arena, the bout will be a major sporting primetime event.

Typically a slow starter, Davis came out aggressive, but it wasn’t until the 4th round when we started to see him set a pace against the feisty Hector Luis Garcia. Garcia (16-0). Garcia, a Dominican born boxer was regarded as the second ranked boxer in the featherweight class. Gervonta was able to keep Garcia at bay with his southpaw jab and frequent body blows.

Scorecards placed Davis ahead the entire match; however, it was in the later minute of the 8th where Davis caught Garcia with a left handed jab. Davis seized the opportunity and landed a round of combinations that visibly spelled trouble for the Garcia camp.

When the corners were to commence and the fighting was to begin, Garcia corner notified the ref that their boxer was unable to continue. Hence, a technical knock-out was immediately awarded to Gervonta “Tank” Davis.

Gervonta Davis responded after the fight, “I was a little surprised he didn’t come out for the 9th, but I knew he was hurt bad.”
