Harlem’s Capo Jim Jones drops EP w/ Hitmaka and announces Mayor’s Cup of Dance Competition Summer 2023

The outlook for 2023 looks promising for the Diplomat’s Capo Jim Jones. After an amazing 2022, Jim Jones is picking up where he left off with a new EP, ‘Back In My Prime’, with legendary producer HitMaka. The project comes on the back end of dropping two collabo albums, Gangsta Grillz: We Set The Trends with DJ Drama, and The Lobby Boyz with Maino and Jim Jones presents: 12 Days of Xmas, last year.

The ‘Back In My Prime’, ep comes fully loaded with 8-bangin tracks with features from Ty Dolla $ign, Stefflon Don, Jeremiah, Beam, Benny the Butcher, Pleasure P, Tink, Ball Greezy and Trav.  A seasoned vet to the game, Jim Jones goes straight in with metaphors and bars that accentuate HitMaka’s trademark production of hard hittin synth’s and quad that makes hits. On “YKTV”, JIm Jones solicits the assistance of L.A. rapper Ty Dolla $ign as the flow is ridiculous and vigorating, to say the least! However, the crown jewel on the project is the track, “I Am”, featuring Stefflon Don. The track goes from 0 to 100 in a New York second with superb flow.

As with any Jim Jones project, it wouldn’t be complete without a joint for the ladies. On the sensual, “FU Better”, featuring r&b Jeremiah, Jim Jones gives the ladies exactly what they want! No explanation necessary, here. Overall, the entire project is a true node to real hip-hop, and represents that Harlem sound to the fullest.  I would say, I would have to agree, Jim Jones is definitely in a resurgence that has him ‘Back In his Prime’. Beware!

With all the camera’s flashing, don’t get lost in the lights! These days Jim Jones has a million reasons to smile, and the one thing that appears evident is his excitement over the inaugural Mayor’s Cup of Dance competition coming this summer. As word would have it, JIm Jones is on the recruitment trail, reaching out to the biggest names in hip-hop to come together. This all fits like a puzzle, being that this August will be the 50th Anniversary of Hip-hip celebration. The Mayor’s Cup of Dance will feature the illest dance crews representing the five boroughs of New York. Each crew will be outfitted with a celebrity representative that will support and usher in their respective crew. It’s a no-brainer that Jim Jones will represent Harlem. In efforts to level up the other crews, Jim Jones has spoken to artists such as Maino, Fabolous, and has plans to tap Fat Joe and Cardi B to come out and rep the Bronx

The competition, announced last week, already has the support of New York City Mayor Eric Adams, and will serve as a positive light for the entire community. The competition will celebrate the arts of various dance styles to include; breakdancing, drill, pop, house and a variety of new style techniques. Although some of the details and logistics are still in the works, Jim Jones exclaims, “the winning dance crews will be in for some ultimate prizes.”

Overall, Jim Jones is headed in the right direction. The streets of New York are buzzing with excitement and anticipation for the Mayor’s Cup of Dance. It’s all about providing an outlet and resources to the youth. It’s no question if the youth in the boroughs have talent, it’s the opportunity that counts. The opportunity is one that will bring communities together in a fun engaging environment. Communication is the key to building a village, and with the Mayor’s Cup of Dance, the prerequisites to bridging gaps will be met in such an amazing way! The culture appreciates you, Jim Jones~ Keep Inspiring
