The 4th of July, 2023 will go down as one of the most memorable Independence Day celebrations due in large part to Houston’s Texas annual signature special. Shell USA Freedom Over Texas is six-hours of festivities, Texas tradition, and live music over several concert stages lined up on Allen Parkway in the heart of the city.
Held at Eleanor Tinsley Park, the larger than life event featured the sounds of Country music star Chris Young, Yola, Keesha Pratt Band, Cupid, TMF, and others, which dazzled the crowd of an estimated 50,000, eclipsing 2022 attendance of nearly 35,000. Wow! They say, “Everything is bigger in Texas”, and I would have to agree. Houston’s annual celebration for America has become the Nation’s premiere Pyrotechnic firework shows. The 4th of July is not only the celebration of America’s birthday, but a tribute to the men and women who have paid the sacrifice for our freedom and liberties we enjoy today.
The city of Houston, Mayor Sylvester Turner, HPD, Houston Fire Department and a host of sponsors all came together with title sponsor Shell USA to make the Shell Freedom Over Texas a huge success. A portion of vendor sales on food and beverages will be donated to the Houston Food Bank, along with other non-profit programs in the city.
