On March 4, 2023, Seth Rogen announced the cast for his Nickelodeon Movies first CG-animated theatrical feature, ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem’. The film, in conjunction with Paramount Pictures and Point Grey Productions is set to be released on August 4.
The four powerful turtles in a half-shell takes on a crime syndicate of mutants as they vow to earn the love of New York City. The lead cast voices are played by Micah Abbey as Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, Brady Noon as Raphael, and Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo. But wait; there’s more! A few characters will make their introduction into the storied tale of the four heroes. Hip-hop legend Ice Cube voices the role of Superfly, an original creation for the film and a menacing character essential to the feature. Others on the star-studded cast include Natasia Demetiou as Wingnut, rapper Post Malone as Ray Fillet, Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom, Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko, Rose Byrne as Leatherhead, Hannibal Burress as Genghis Frog, John Cena as Rocksteady, Jackie Chan as Splinter, and Seth Rogen as Bebop. Talking about Mayhem!
Written by Kevin Eastman, Peter Laird, and Brendan O’Brien, the film follows the plot of the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on a mission to be recognized as normal teenagers. Teamed with their first human ally, the dynamic April O’Neil voiced by Ayo Edebiri, they must once again show defining acts of heroism as they once again encounter a force that must be stopped. Directed by Jeff Rowe and co-directed by Kyler Spears, the task of placing life behind the storyboard of such established actors behind the characters comes out perfectly. For Ice Cube (Superfly), it’s a breath of fresh air to come from the vigors of the director’s chair, to a role that he is familiar with, sorta!
Produced by Seth Rogen, in conjunction with James Weaver, and Evan Goldberg, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem brings the saga full circle. Rogen announced the cast at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Fans are in awe and anxious to see the revamped story of a TMNT Mutant Mayhem without the menacing villain Shredder. The addition of characters such as Superfly will add a new and improved twist that fans are anxious to see from the pizza loving turtles. Cowabunga, dude!
