Academy Awards-winning actor/musician Jamie Foxx is back on the big screen, this time he’s playing a witty attorney in the true life drama “The Burial”. Written by Maggie Bells and Doug Wright, the Bells directed film is a film based on attorney Willie E. Gray (Foxx) in representing client Jeremiah Joseph O’Keefe lawsuit vs. the Loewen Funeral Company.
“The Burial” makes its debut at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, before a limited release on October 6th, and will made available to stream via Prime Video on October 13th. “The Burial” is an Amazon Studios production in conjunction with Double Nickel Entertainment, Foxxhole Productions, Maven Pictures, and Bobby Shriver Productions.
“The Burial” pairs up Jamie Foxx as personal-injury attorney Willie E. Gray represented his client Tommy Lee Jones as funeral home owner Jeremiah Joseph O’Keefe’s bid to save his family business. The film is a story of injustice turns to triumph after a lengthy legal fight resulting in a groundbreaking verdict. “The Burial” supporting cast includes Bill Camp as Raymond Loewen, Pamela Reed, Alan Ruck, Lance E. Nichols, Jurnee Smollett, Mamouduo Athie, Amanda Warren, and Dorian Missick.
“The Burial” takes place in 1955 when racial injustices ran rapidly in the nation. The true-life story of “The Burial” examines the legalities of the Jeremiah Joseph O’Keefe lawsuit vs. the Loewen Funeral Company. The lawsuit was an important and monumental verdict for the plantiff, which still holds significance today
