Some say, Poets make the best musicians; and for the most part, I would agree. Meet Chicago area singer/songwriter Kara Jackson. Kara, known world renown as the third National Youth Poet Laureate from 2019-2020, she is an amazing creative who embodies everything there is about being great. Just this past week, Kara announced the date to her debut album, “Why Does the Earth Give Us People to Love?” which will be available across all platforms, April 14th. In addition, Kara followed the announcement by releasing her latest single, ‘Pawnshop’.
‘Pawnshop’, is an up-tempo indie country track that brings together a rich Tennessee sound in the use of chords and melodies, ringing in a rusty banjo feel. The production is superb, followed by Kara’s rich, deep harmony, making for a perfect match which instantly draws listeners into something new, exciting and powerful. Kara Jackson sings freely throughout the song of understanding one’s value. ‘Pawnshop’, is the treasure of self-love and worth. Once one comes to terms with who they are, it doesn’t matter what other people think. Hmmm, food for thought.
‘Pawnshop’, and the past released singles released in the past few months were written by Kara Jackson during the pandemic while in her childhood bedroom. The singles – “No Fun/Party,” “Brain”, “Pawnshop’, and ‘Dickhead Blues’, are part of the collection that will be on the “Why Does the Earth Give Us People to Love?” album. The 13-track album is wonderfully produced and written by Kara Jackson with guest collaborations NNAMDÏ, Kaina, and Sen Morimoto. Kara previously recorded and released her first EP, “A Song For Every Chamber Of The Heart,” which drew rave reviews from music lovers and fans.
