Mattel Pays Homage to the Queen of Rock’nRoll, Tina Turner with The Barbie Signature Music Series Tina Turner Doll

“What’s Love Got to Do With It”, one might ask! And the answer would have to be, Everything! Mattel, the nation’s leading toy manufacturer, has just paid homage to the 82 year old music legend, Tina Turner in emphatic fashion. In honoring the 40th anniversary of her hit song “What’s Love Got To Do With It”, the company created a Barbie in her likeness. And I say, “It’s Amazing”!

The doll is part of the Barbie Signature Music Series, which also features pioneers such as David Bowie, Elvis Presley and Gloria Estefan. Dressed in the classic 80’s punk-rock denim jacket, black tights, high heels and her frizzy spike hair, it’s a retro throwback to the way Tina Turner captivated the music universe.

Tina Turner, now an official citizen of Switzerland hasn’t performed publicly since 2009 is regarded as one of the most successful artists in the world with an astounding twelve Grammys, eight competitive awards, three Grammy Hall of Fame awards, and of course, the Lifetime Achievement award, which accumulates a career of nearly 70 years. Deemed as the Queen of Rock’nRoll, Tina Turner continues to shape the landscape of women in a male dominated genre. 

The Barbie Signature Music Series Tina Turner doll retails for $55 dollars and will be a collectors item. Designed by Bill Greening, the doll is the perfect compliment to the 40th anniversary of the mega-hit “What’s Love Got To Do With It”, and the legacy Tina Turner built.
