We Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month annually from September 15th to October 15th. The premise for Hispanic Heritage Month began as a way to promote the culture, history and contributions of Hispanic Americans.  This includes ancestors who came from Mexico, Spain, Caribbean, and South and Central America. Hispanic Heritage Month original origins began with a commemoration introduced by Congressman George E. Brown in June of 1968.

The Awareness of multicultural groups living in the United States began to grow to astronomical numbers.  Awareness of the multicultural groups living in the United States was also gradually growing.  The official observation of Hispanic Heritage Month began as just a week under President Lyndon B. Johnson and was later extended to a 30-day celebration under President Ronald Reagan.  The piece of legislation was enacted into public law 100-402 on August 17, 1988. The 30-day celebration commemorates the independence anniversary for Latin American countries and El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Honduras. The independence days of Chile and Mexico fall on September 16th,  and 18th. Día de la Raza, known as Columbus Day falls on October 12th.
