Music Artist Shock Talks About Overcoming His Depression

In a recent podcast interview, Shock touches on overcoming psychological depression and a few challenges he has encountered in the past. These challenges include Self Esteem, Self Pride, and Self Confidence. He explains how these challenges affected his craft, as well as, his social life. He often expresses the importance of understanding oneself and knowing self-worth. The main message he wants people to understand is that nothing happens overnight. You have to work hard constantly and consistently to make that change.

Shock stated, “Growing up, I had low self-esteem. As a kid, I was often picked on in grade school.” The quote alone speaks for itself. He talks about how these tough challenges have affected his motivation to record music. He also states that he had to learn encouragement himself when dealing with situations like these and that it starts with asking, “How can you expect to win if you are not a fan of yourself?” Because Shock was an only child, it created a mixed role in his social life. He always felt that he needed to work harder to fit in because of his feelings of being left out. He would later come to understand that self-pride opens up many successful opportunities.

“Self Pride is beautiful because who else is going to take pride in you other than yourself?” -Shock
From opening up about times he felt people did not think he was good enough to do music, Shock had to gain the strength to motivate himself by saying, “Self Pride fuels my whole train because no one can tell me how to feel about myself.” He continued on by saying that sometimes people have to look at themselves in the mirror and tell themselves that they too are beautiful.
Shock believes self-confidence is a big role in overcoming depression. He says, “Once you truly understand and know yourself as a person, your mind starts to become freer. Just think about how successful you will be if you are actually confident in what you do.” Yes, Shock admits to seeking a therapist at the age of 13 and yes, he also did 6 months of therapy because he believes talking to a therapist is the first step to overcoming depression and all other mental needs .

In conclusion, Shock was able to override his depression by understanding Self Esteem, Self Pride, and Self Confidence. As a major triumph, Shock has completely turned his life around into a positive matter. He says, “the first step to solving problems is realizing that there is one.” He also stresses a lot about the importance of understanding because overcoming depression is not a one-day process.
“People just have to understand who they are, love themselves, keep the faith, value the person they are along with who they want to be, and continue to stay positive.”-Shock
