All lights were upon Melbourne, Australia for the 2022 Music Victoria Awards Tuesday. The Music Victoria Awards, formerly known as The Age Entertainment Guide Awards is the annual Awards ceremony celebrating the best of Victorian Music. The night was full of surprises which included Baker Boy taking home three trophy awards for Best Album, Best Song and Best Regional Act.
Emma Donovan & The Putbacks won Best Group, while Julia Jacklin took home the award for Best Solo Artist.
The Music Victoria Awards are unique in its inclusivity and accessibility to people of culturally and linguistic backgrounds, which includes deaf and disabled people as well as the LGBTIQA community. What started in 2006, has blossomed to a full scale gala of great contemporary musicians, producers and venues with the goal of celebrating and rewarding the musical arts. In the years since, Award categories have changed, while others has been added to both the public voted category, and the industry voted awards. In addition, the Legend of Fame (Hall) induction ceremony was added.
