How would one describe the best version of love? An intriguing question! For British born soul singer Olivia Dean, the answer comes in the form of her leadoff single ‘UFO’, from her soon to be announced debut album. The timing couldn’t be more perfect with sold-out shows which began at the Trinity Centre, Bristol on the 4th of March, and concludes with a date at the North Sea Jazz Festival 2023 in Rotterdam, Netherlands on July 23rd.
‘UFO’, released nearly a month ago has caught fire in the United States as both urban and pop stations are placing the record in rotation. The Matt Hales produced track comes complete with acoustic guitar and the use of vocoder. Olivia Dean’s vocal range and fullness does the rest, as she bellows sweet hello’s of well written love lyrics into the universe. To date, ‘UFO’ just may be one of Olivia Dean’s most complete songs which showcases her uniqueness. In 2022, Olivia shook up the industry with her chart topping single ‘Danger’, placing her as an international superstar.
From what came out of a conversation over a cup of tea, Olivia Dean alongside producer and co-writer Matt Hales, ‘UFO’ is a brush of emotions, which paints beautifully onto the canvas of the heart. Olivia describes ‘UFO’ as a node to falling in love for the first time. Love can often be reached through a moment; however, capitalizing from it can come with insecurities that may seem foreign……… ‘UFO’.
Olivia premiered ‘UFO’, on BBC Radio 1’s Future Sounds with Clara Amfo on the 1st of February, and since then the single has taken off in U.S. markets. Hopes are, the buzz will spark an Olivia Dean U.S. Tour????
