The film stars a gay couple and their daughter, who is taken hostage by four strangers that demand a sacrifice to save humanity. What a plot! As the saga continues, the couple, played by Ben Aldridge and Jonathan Groff, find themselves conflicted with decisions that no man should have to make. The film is thought provoking and challenging as it questions the sheer moral fibers that tantalizes the soul.
Ben Aldridge and Jonathan Groff’s chemistry in the film is incredible as the couple must decide on a sacrifice and the hands to persecute the chosen. Talking about making a choice. For the sake of humanity, the balance of humanity depends on the decision and if aborted, the apocalypse will end the world.
Manoj Nelliyattu, professionally known as M. Night Shyamalan, has made quite a name for himself as a suspense director and filmmaker with ‘The Sixth Sense’ and ‘Split’ in 2016. His unique style has drawn criticism from some critics, but others rave on his delivery and ability to create a theme which sparks suspense and drama. The film, ‘Knock at the Cabin’ is not only thought provoking, but spins the pendulum of morality that intrigues the soul. Will the world end? Or will the world we live in prepare us to live through the torment, again and again.
With over 25+ years in the industry, Shyamalan’s films are finally receiving the respect and recognition they deserve. While “Knock at the Cabin’ may begin with the typical feel of a 80’s jock in the woods getting slashed by a serial killer, you soon find out that this is a thriller with substance. The cast for the film, fits like a ball and glove, the actors project a well pieced together production that should yield positive reviews and nods for film of the year.
‘Knock at the Cabin’ is definitely a film that will scare the hell out of you. Dave Bautista, who plays the character ‘Leonard,’ is a physically overbearing mammoth that’s both intimidating and gentle. By far, this is one of Bautista’s best performances to date. The film features a well rounded cast which brings the likes of Ben Aldridge, Kristen Cui, Jonathan Groff, Rupert Grint, Abby Quinn and Nikki Amuka-Bird together in the classic horror.
The film was based off of the 2018 novel by Paul Tremblay’s, Produced by Ashwin Rajan, Marc Bienstock, and Shyamalan for Blinding Edge Pictures, the film is set to be released nationally through Universal Pictures on February 3, 2023.
