It’s always a pleasure when the universe is treated to a project from Ypsilanti’s own Queen Naija. With that being said, Queen Naija recently released her new single, “Let’s Talk About It,” and it’s definitely a scorcher. For all true Queen Naija fans, the single comes as a battle cry for men to step up! To those in the new, take “Let’s Talk About It,” as one of those ~ If the shoe fits, wear it type of song that begs one to think and ask, Is this my truth?
The century old question of what a woman wants and desires in a man, is answered, broken down, and can be found in the Queen Naija and Mike Woods written track. Produced by Oak Felder, “Let’s Talk About It,” has a smooth laid back feel with on-time drums and hi-hats, wrapping around Queen Naija’s sexy voice with precision.
The visuals to “Let’s Talk About It,” pairs Naija and co-star Lil Meech together in a relationship that meets a roadblock. Directed by Sara Lacombe, the plot thickens and comes to a climax as Naija makes Lil Meech own up to his imperfections. The masterful written piece is therapeutic in the sense that WE as men have a responsibility to honor and respect the relationship. I, for one, will be the first to admit that sometimes we fall short; but, the word is “Accountability,” for our actions when it comes to our place in the relationship.
“Let’s Talk About It’, serves as Queen Naija’s first official single since dropping “Hate Our Love” featuring Big Sean in 2022. Hopefully we can prepare for a full studio album in 2023 from Queen Naija.
Queen Naija may be blunt, up-front and vocal; however, her energy is definitely needed! Since Queen Naija’s debut album, “Missunderstood”, she has dropped nothing but jewels on the strength. Her follow-up album, “Missunderstood ….still” was yet another classic that defined what I would call- Conscious Soul. The institution of a healthy relationship has become obsolete, it’s about time that we TALK ABOUT IT!
