Memphis Legend and Icon Gangsta Boo has passed away according to reports coming out of Memphis. Memphis television station Fox 13 reported the news shortly after 5pm central standard time.
Gangsta Boo was a permanent resident of Memphis who first burst on the scene in the late 1990’s as part of the Hypnotize Mindz click and Three 6 Mafia. Authorities report that Gangsta Boo, real name Lola Chantrelle Mitchelle, was found dead at 4pm central standard time. Gangsta Boo was part of the infamous Three 6 Mafia for six years, racking up hits on Albums When the Smoke Clears and Chapter 2: World Domination. Gangsta Boo was most notable on the hit singles “Who Run It” and “Sippin’ on Some Syrup,” which were both anthems throughout the South.
In 1998, Gangsta Boo released her first solo album Enquiring Minds which reached the top 10 of Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop charts with the hit single, “Where Dem Dollas at?” Gangsta Boo would go on to release two more studio albums and a slew of mixtapes dating as late as 2018.
