The Industry will never be the same! Since the untimely passing of DMX, hip-hop hasn’t been the same. Where’s my Dogg At? Mane, we miss “X” so much! With the anniversary of his death coming up, the Ruff Ryders announced on April 9th, they will Ryde Out in celebration of DMX. Rightfully so! “DMX was definitely necessary to the culture” as stated by Charlemagne Tha God on the Breakfast Club Show.
April 9, 2023 will mark the second anniversary of the influential artist’s death. I can’t believe two years have passed. On April 9, 2021, outlets went into a frenzy with the news of his passing to a heart attack. Born Earl Simmons, DMX was a Mount Vernon legend that made it, laid it, and ultimately created it – A style, bravado and swagger that will never be duplicated or replicated. DMX is solely responsible for a block of existence that began with the release of It’s Dark and Hell is Hot and carried on for about a decade. So many MC’s owe “X” a salute!
DMX was put to rest like a king. I wasn’t there in person, but from live feed, I recall the streets of New York in mourning. The Nation came out, and showed out! The Ruff Ryders flooded the streets with a caravan of Ryders that extended for 10-miles. The procession was ridiculous, with the ending memorial service at the Barclays Center; packed. Family, friends were in attendance with teammates such as Nas, Eve, Ruff Ryders and Kanye West’s Sunday Service choir in attendance.
The New York State Senate officially declared December 18th as “DMX” Simmons Day. December 18th is “X” birthday and he would have been 52 approaching his 53rd born day this December.
The Ruff Ryders are asking for fans, friends and family of the late DMX to come out and show support and love. The celebration will be a “Ryde Out” event to celebrate not only “DMX”, but all fallen soldiers who contributed to the culture. The day will be full of food, fun, games, music and camaraderie that signifies the importance “X” played in the community.
DMX posthumous album “EXODUS”, debuted at No. 8 on Billboard 200, and received a nomination for Best Rap Song at the 2022 Grammys. We continue to listen and reminisce from the positivity and love “X” shared! Forever and Ever #longliveX
