It’s been almost 28-years since the night we lost the iconic legend Tupac Shakur in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. Although there have been numerous investigations and leads over the years, no definitive suspect or person has been officially charged with the crime. In breaking news Tuesday, authorities in nearby Henderson, Nevada served a search warrant in what is being said, is in connection to the Tupac murder.
Playing it back from September 7, 1996, it was a night that sports enthusiasts had been waiting in anticipation for months. Mike Tyson vs. Bruce Seldon was the biggest show on earth, with all eyes on the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas. The evening was a who’s, who, of celebrities and sports figures from across the globe to witness the event. In short fashion, Mike Tyson knocked Bruce Seldon out in defense of his championship.
Around 11:15 that night, Tupac Shakur, riding in the passenger seat of Suge Knight’s Beamer, was en route to an afterparty. As the entourage made their way to the afterparty when they stopped at a red light at East Flamingo Road and Koval Lane. Shots rang out from a white Cadillac, hitting Tupac several times. Tupac Shakur fought for his life, but in the end, he subsequently passed away on September 13th at University Medical Center.
That day, hip-hop changed. The art, wisdom, and creative spirit of Tupac Shakur is missed, and will be forever~
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement that confirmed a search warrant was executed in the city of Henderson. The department did not provide further details on the search, a possible subject, citing its an open investigation.
