Well, just about! Shakira is back with a new single, ‘Out of Your League’ with Argentinian producer and DJ Bizarrap. Since its release on Thursday, the video has amassed over 120 million views on YouTube setting records globally. The video, ‘Out of Your League’ is now the most watched Latin song in a 24-hour period and is well on its way of breaking the all-time viewing record set by Pinkfong Baby Shark’s, ‘Baby Shark Dance’ with 9-billion views.
Shakira’s ‘Out of Your League’ is a song about break-up with a twist! Shakira goes all-in and everyone under the stars knows that the lyrics are aimed at her public separation from Barcelona footballer Gerard Pique. The two separated after being together for more than ten years and sharing two children together. It has been reported that Pique has a new sweetheart, 23-year old Clara Chía Marti.
Unlike her previously released track, ‘Monotonia’, ‘Out of You League’ is a straight up diss song in every sense of the word. ‘Monotonia’ was more like a lullaby in which Shakira expresses heartbreak; however, on the newly released single, it’s personal!
Shakira wastes no time getting to the skinny on the track, on the collabo with DJ Bizarrap, she goes in; “I’m worth two 22-year olds, You swapped a Ferrari for a Twingo/ You swapped a Rolex for a Casio.” Damn, talking about speechless. Shakira goes one further, “a she-wolf like me isn’t for rookies, I was out of your league, which is why you’re with someone just like you.” Shakira then goes into Pique’s work ethic and suggests he should work on his mental. Shakira also takes a shot at her mother-in-law and the Spanish authorities trying to hem her up for tax invasion.
