Legendary rapper/entrepreneur Snoop Dogg revealed on Stephen A. Smith new podcast K{No}W Mercy that he and Dr. Dre are working on a new Snoop Dogg record titled ‘Missionary’ to be released in November. The album signifies almost 30 years since the two have worked on a solo Snoop Dogg project. As a matter of fact, the last project was the iconic 1993 masterpiece, ‘Doggystyle’ which was produced by Dr. Dre.
Snoop Dogg recently purchased sole ownership of Death Row Records from MNRK Music Group in a move that gives Snoop the creative control to revive and possession of the valuable catalog. When asked why he desired to purchase the label which has been surrounded in whirlwind of controversy over the years, Snoop Dogg replied ‘I was looking to get my masters back from ‘Doggystyle’. Snoop went on to elaborate, “During the process, MNRK was the company that possessed it, and was asking more for my masters than the label itself, so I asked myself if I wanted just the masters, or do I want to go back and get that legacy?”
The last public appearance for Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre was at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, where they performed alongside of 50Cent, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem. Apparently, the album ‘Missionary‘ is almost done after nearly 2 months of work with Dr. Dre. Snoop confirmed that the title of the new album follows the undertone of the 1993 classic, ‘Doggystyle’, implying that Missionary is the prelude to the taboo sexual position.
All indications point in the direction of greatness, and I for one, can’t wait till Missionary drops in November~ Stay Tuned
