The Tampa Bay Buccaneers brass received a phone call at 6:00 am Wednesday morning from its starting quarterback, Tom Brady. From what we hear was a brief call, Mr. Brady thanked the organization as he notified them of his retirement, effective immediately. If this story sounds familiar, it is, but unlike his last effort at retirement in 2021, Brady is adamant that there will not be a return on his promise six weeks later.
Good morning, guys, I’ll get to the point right away. I’m retiring for good. I know the process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning I figured I just press record and let you guys know first. I won’t be long-winded. You only get one super-emotional retirement essay, and I used mine up last year.”

Brady leaves the league as the all-time leader in pass yards, wins and passing touchdowns. It was a back-up role for then New England Patriots Quarterback Drew Bledsoe in 2001 when Brady took the helm as starter and hasn’t looked back. After 23 seasons, Brady stands as the only quarterback to amass seven Super Bowl wins, six with New England and one with Tampa Bay in 2021.
After retiring last season, Brady announced he would return in hopes of another run for a title. Tampa Bay 2022 season was less than Brady-like, with a record of 8-9 and a first round playoff loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The Buccaneers couldn’t muster a consistent running game which resulted in Tom Brady with a league leading 733 pass attempts. At 45-years of age, Brady is sure to be a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee. In his 23 year career, Brady was selected 15 times to the Pro Bowl, 3 MVP selections, 2 Offensive Player of the Year, and 5 Super Bowl MVP’s.
As Tom Brady closes his professional football career, one can only imagine what’s next? In May of 2022, Brady signed an exclusive contract with FOX Sports to join the network as an analyst after his playing career. The deal is reported to be 10-year, $375 million. In addition, Tom will have the time to spend with his two children he shares with ex-wife Gisele Bundchen and his son with Bridget Moynahan
