Millions across the world payed homage to fallen Migos band member, ‘Takeoff as he was memorialized Friday 11, November 2022. Fans from across the globe came to Atlanta to remember rapper Takeoff, whose real name is Kirshnik Khari Ball who was fatally shot outside a bowling alley in Houston.
Over 20,000 fans and admirers were in attendance at the homecoming which was held at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. From Grammy award winning artist, to government and business dignitaries, the masses came out to celebrate with friends and family. Known as the laid-back member of the group, Takeoff influence on the culture has been felt across the globe. Fans ranging in age and races lined the sidewalks of State Farm Arena with umbrellas as a light sprinkle began in Atlanta around 10am. Among those in attendance to honor the late Icon were Drake, Gucci Mane, Ja Rule, Justin Beiber and a host of artist who performed at the service. The tributes began pouring in earlier this week with just about everyone from the music, film, and sports industry paying their respects through tweets and posts. Both Quavo and Offset, along with Cardi B was at the service along with family and friends.
Takeoff, along with Migo’s band mates Offset and Quavo were born and raised together in nearby Lawrenceville, Georgia. The group would go on to captivate the world with No. 1 albums and trendsetting with a style of rap never heard of before. The group were nominated for two Grammy’s, and a host of music awards for their works and creative artistic direction. Only 28-years old, Takeoff was the youngest member of the group and nephew to Quavo. The duo had just released the “Only Built for Infinity Links“, album in October.
Media was prohibited from entering the arena, and fans were not allowed to record footage or take pictures during the service which was officiated by Takeoff’s childhood Pastor, Rev. Jesse Curney. “Kirsnick has been a faithful member since he was ten years old. He and his family were active and avid supporters of the church and the community as a whole,” stated Rev. Jesse Curney.
Those who wish to pay their respects to Takeoff and the Family are asked to make a donation to The Rocket Foundation, which strives to prevent gun violence through community-based solutions. Per his family’s request, they ask donations be sent instead of mass flowers. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with his family and friends.
