Talking about being shot from a cannon! Meet Los Alamitos, California quarterback Malachi Nelson. The 19-year old 6’3 freshman is hopefully what USC and Lincoln Riley have been missing to take them over the PAC-12, and into a National Playoff berth. Accornding to many NFL scouts, Mr. Nelson has the physical and mental strength to return USC to prominence over PAC-12 competion.
Malachi Nelson is massive, quick, and elusive. The best part about it, Malachi has a cannon for an arm and total command over his precision. Simple and plain, the kid is a true pocket thrower, with enough agility to throw on the run or tuck and run. But as we all know, it’s a quarterback will to read defenses and make the right decision. With all of his last three seasons in high school at Los Alamitos High School, Malachi showed a steady progression and finished with nearly a 80% pass completion rate.
As we all know, the Manning protege who committed to the University of Texas was the talk of the town, but we think the hidden gem is the big man on campus at USC. Considered to be one of the nation’s top quarterbacks to come out of high school, Malachi is hands down a sure shot for the Trojans. Without playing a snap of collegiate ball, Malachi is already deemed a early NFL Draft prospect.
A highly rated five-star recruit coming out of his junior year, Nelson committed to Oklahoma before Lincoln Riley’s departure to teh Trojans. Once it was official that Lincoln Riley was installed, Nelson pulled back his commitment and switched it to play for USC.
Nelson first signed his letter of intent with USC in December, and solidified it by enrolling in classes in March of 2023. Since then, the young Trojan has been a busy man on and off the field with the announcement of a NIL deal with The H.wood Group. The deal will be in support of The h.wood Group hospitality and 13-restuaraunt / nightlife group in the Los Angeles area which includes the popular barbecue spot SLAB.
However, on the gridiron, Malachi should feel right at home with the Trojans as they try to run rough shot over the competition. The newly revamped Colorado Buffalo’s is the one contender teams in the PAC-12 wonder about with malice. Malachi is use to pressure and adversity. We stand asure that we will be filling up the stat sheets and bleachers behind the arm of Malachi Nelson.
After ending the season with a disapointing loss in the Pac-12 championship game, the Trojans look forward to improving on thier 11-1 regualr season. The Trojans finished the season ranked No.12 in the AP Top 25 poll.
